Cos De BAHA Retinol 2.5 Serum (Upgraded Version) Review

What is it?

It is a serum with 2.5% pure retinol. Not diluted, not paired with palmitic acid to render retinyl palmitate. Or Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate aka granactive retinoid. Nope. Old school retinol. Pure one. All about retinol and how to use it I posted here (click to read).

Maximum strength I have had ever before was 1%. You remember Drunk Elephant A Passioni or The Ordinary 1% Retinol in Squalane. This concentration of retinol although not the biggest known in South Korea (there are eye creams with 3.8% retinol) caught my eye undoubtedly.

Cos De BAHA is relatively young South Korean brand who claims: ‘our products are created from the effective ingredients, formulated according to scientific research that determines the precise blend of the most effective scientific ingredients.’

This particular serum is the newer, upgraded version that differs from the previous version in texture, colour and ingredients list. Previous version was more of a white emulsion and this one is more dry oil liquid type serum of a yellowish colour.

It comes in 30 ml /1.0 fl.oz non glass (but looks and feels like a glass) bottle with a pipette.

Serum itself is very thin, light and leaves no residue on skin.

How to use it?

After cleansing and toning, apply 1~2 drops of serum at night.

Caution – For pregnant women, consult a specialist to see if they can use the product in advance. Retinol is a photosensitive substance. Therefore, exposure to sunlight or ultraviolet light can cause irritation or irritation to the skin, so be sure to use it only at night.

Generally – After cleansing and toning your face. Apply 1~2 drops of serum at night. Do not wash or wipe after applying the serum. After applying this serum, we recommend using a skin moisturizer. Massage a small amount of cleanser to wet skin, avoiding eye area. It is also a good idea to apply one more part that you want to improve.

Sensitive – Is your skin sensitive? Please mix with other Pure Serum. If your skin has fully adapted to the ingredients, you can expect faster results with only the product in question. /Cos De BAHA/

Please read this post on how to use retinol products.

I use this serum 2 times a week in the evening. Always after toner, hydrator and prior the moisturizer.

Ingredients

Cos De Baha Retinol 2.5 Serum Ingredients

* Organic Ingredients, Organic 50%

Beautiful, short and engaged list of ingredients. Stripped of all the unnecessary things. This retinol is already teamed with hyaluronic acid and niacinamid to boost its action and added vitamin E is nice touch. Botanical extracts are nice extra.

The older version was more of an emulsion and with whitening agents:

Old version:

*Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Glycerin, Cyclopentasiloxane, Niacinamide, Betaine, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea)Butter, Retinol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Arginine, Panthenol, Adenosine, Allantoin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Microcrystalline Wax, Dimethiconol, Dimethicone, Petrolatum, Disodium EDTA, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, *Rosa Damascena Extract, *Lavandula Angustifolia Flower Extract, *Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, *Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract,m*Artemisia Vulgaris Extract

*Organic Ingredients, Organic 72%

I like the newer version far better.

Rosacea safe?

Yes, but… go really, and I mean really slow with this one. Buffer, buffer, buffer and hope for the best.

Who is it for?

All skin types, mature skin

Does it work?

This serum peeled my skin the first, the second and the third time I applied it. Didn’t matter that my skin is well-used and really good friend to high retinol concentrations. Well, this stuff is strong I tell you!

But when I finally adjusted the buffering type and amount, things started to change dramatically to face tune direction. All smooth, calm, almost poreless and wrinkle free. I fell in love with it. Such a modest little bottle with a bomb inside. After couple of months of cautious use, I saw my skin change like I never saw it before. Good change. And it gets better and better. Good enough reason for thumb up declaration.

Thumbs up?

Duh!
