Garden of Wisdom for Victoria Health Neurophroline Serum Review

What is it?

It is a skin care serum. Very interesting one actually. When I first read the description of this serum, I knew I had to have it. Victoria Health (the UK beauty and health web shop) teamed up with Garden of Wisdom (I mentioned them here and here) to create the whole skincare line that I must admit, actually like. A lot. I mean, look at these claims:

‘Garden of Wisdom Neurophroline™ Serum is a multi-tasking serum to combat the major causes of ageing skin, reactive and sensitive skin, and to mitigate the effects of pollution on skin.

Garden of Wisdom Neurophroline™ Serum combats the major signs of ageing of skin, stress. Stress and environmental aggressions including pollution and UV radiation cause the release of the stress hormone cortisol, an inflammatory hormone that is released within the epidermis of skin.’ /Victoria Health/

Who wouldn’t even try a chill pill for the skin?

Me too couldn’t resist it.

Especially when I saw this (from the same product description on their website):

‘Rosacea-prone skin would also benefit from the use of Neurophroline™ Serum. Rosacea sufferers have been found to have almost three times more cortisol at rest and approximately five times more cortisol just before and after rosacea triggers and flares. Neurophroline serum may be useful in the treatment of rosacea.

Cortisol is a potent inflammatory hormone when levels are very high and if left unchecked, the increased reactivity and inflammation of the blood vessels can cause skin damage that hinders the repair processes which occur overnight. Neurophroline™ has been clinically shown to help normalise cortisol levels throughout the day and in the evening when applied to skin which may benefit in preventing rosacea flare-ups as well as encouraging the healing of damaged skin.’ /Victoria Health/

Including benefits for oily, dry, aging skin and so on and on. Almost too promising, ambitious to the bone.

It comes in typical GOW plastic pump 30 ml/1 fl.oz. bottle. Talking about this GOW bottle, I do mind the fact that every GOW product has the pump too short. Meaning, you will have to use the last third of the product unscrewing the bottle and actually pouring the product out to the palm of your hand. Messy and not really convenient.

The product is of whitish serum consistency, thin but very moisturizing. Very faint herbal/grassy scent that goes away almost immediately.

How to use it?

Garden of Wisdom Neurophroline Serum Review

Apply 1or 2 pumps of face serum up to the eye area and neck after cleansing in the AM and PM. The serum can also be added to your favourite moisturiser for daily use.

The first bottle I used up this way exactly. Two times a day, mornings and nights. Then the second bottle I used to use only in PM. The third one too.

Nothing to add here.

Rosacea safe?

Yes

Who is it for?

All skin types

Does it work?

Now the fun part. I had very high hopes for this serum. No, you can’t let my skin down after everything you promised me you could and would do!

Did it live up to my expectations?

Yeeees!

It actually works. Balancing skin is the most prominent effect to it.

Two pumps of this serum are more than enough to cover the whole face and neck. Very, very moisturizing and when used after an essence (e.g. Missha Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence, these two together create magic) or a very hydrating toner, it can even be enough moisture for oily or combination skin types.

It applies very smoothly and has no sticky feel to it.

Garden of Wisdom Neurophroline Serum Review

No dry, no stressed out skin that couldn’t cope with nippy spring and hellish hot summer like before. I could really ditch all my bb creams and night time foundations. Just a touch of NIOD Photography Fluid Opacity 8% and CC cream and I was good to go anywhere.

Of course, this serum wasn’t the only one to blame. The whole skincare regimen and discipline to it made my skin better and this serum was just an add on.

It will not cure your acne, or smooth out your deep wrinkles, but it definitely will boost any skin care regimen of yours and keep your skin calm. And that is what I was aiming for.

Calm skin. Skin that you can work with. Skin you can feed, nourish, hydrate to get the real feedback from it.

Calm. That’s the thing.

Thumbs up?

Yes (ooommm)
