La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Serum Review

What is it?

It is a serum, a hydrator, a replumper as La Roche-Posay says.

La Roche-Posay is French brand created in 1975 by pharmacist, Mr. Rene Levayer. The key ingredient of the whole line of La Roche-Posay products is spring water discovered in 14th century in the town of La Roche-Posay in central France. Brand’s mission is developing skin care products to be used and recommended by dermatologists for their patients.

Here is what they say about Hyalu B5:

Fresh replumping hydrating water-gel. Nickel controlled.

The 1st dermatological anti-wrinkle solution that replumps and repairs skin.

A unique pro-skin recovery formula featuring two types of pure hyaluronic acids, vitamin B5 and madecassoside, to help plump the look of skin, repair skin’s barrier and activate skin renewal. /La Roche-Posay/

La Roche Posay Hyalu B5 Serum Review

This serum comes in standard 30 ml / 1.01 fl.oz glass bottle with the pipette. It is thick, semi-transparent viscous, slightly streaky liquid. It is lightly fragranced with characteristic La Roche-Posay scent. Very pleasant to use.

How to use it?

Apply morning and evening on face and neck. /La Roche-Posay/

I would only add to this, any time you feel the need for the skin refreshment and replumping. Day, night, summer, winter.

Ingredients

La Roche Posay Hyalu B5 Serum Ingredients

Clean pharmaceutical formula. My favourite kind.

Key ingredients to this formula are hyaluronic acid (in sodium hyaluronate form) in dual form of fragmented and high molecular weight to hydrate both upper and inner skin layers.

More on this please read here where I dedicated the whole post to hyaluronic acid.

Vitamin B5 or Panthenol is used for its skin soothing properties along with its ability to stimulate skin regeneration. It is often used in combination with hyaluronic acid for its humectant properties and as actual enhancer of hyaluronic acid action. Many products of this kind use this combination, like The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, Medik8 Hydr8 B5, Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 Gel etc.

And there is one more booster to this replumping and regenerative action to both hyaluronic acid and panthenol – madecassoside. It’s an active compound of Centella Asiatica. You can read more on centella asiatica and madecassoside right here.

Denatured alcohol is very high on this list, but it is not at all drying. Just the opposite. Its function here is to promote active ingredients deeper into the skin.

Rosacea safe?

Yes

Who is it for?

All skin types, wrinkles, loss of volume and elasticity, tired and dull skin.

Does it work?

I’m afraid this is going to be a very short review. This thing is amazing! The best hyaluronic acid serum I have ever used. And I did try quite a few. It leaves my skin refreshed, plump, glowy. From the first use. It even lacks that unfortunate drying counter effect of hyaluronic acid applied on dry skin.

It’s rather thick, moisturizing serum that carries that feeling it’s going to feed and nourish the skin. I apply it right after a toner and the effect is visible straight away. I just finish off with light moisturizer and sun protection if it is in the morning skin care, and my skin is happy.

It doesn’t pill, it doesn’t dry out skin, it doesn’t leave sticky feel on the skin. But it also doesn’t last long. But that’s just me. Although it really requires just a few drops per one application, I can’t resist the urge to squeeze that pippete all the way and use the whole charge. There’s no need for that, but I can’t help it. I like it. My skin too, so it seems.

You know that meme that says: “I’m looking for the moisturizer that hides the fact that I’ve been tired since 2010.” Well, your search may be over.

Funny
