What is it?
Highlighter, illuminator, moisturizer, complexion enhancer, skincare and makeup all in one.
Official Peter Thomas Roth website claims:
“Enhance luminosity and boost the look of radiance with 24K Gold, Colloidal Gold and Intelligent Shade-Sensing Sphere Technology. Optical diffusers have a prismatic effect that instantly scatters light, helping to diminish the appearance of skin imperfections for a flawless, lit-from-within glow.
Three shade-sensing spheres are combined to provide a full spectrum of radiance, and self-adjust to complement every skin tone. Advanced hydrators help prevent water loss, providing immediate and long-term hydration for a fresh, dewy look and feel. Skin is left with a soft, natural-looking glow. For all skin types.”
Actually, it’s one of those products easily used and very easily abused. You can in no time make yourself look like a god(dess) or make yourself look like a disco ball within one (too many) drop of this luscious, shiny, moisturizing cream. It is a part of Peter Thomas Roth’s 24K Gold collection, with also:
- 24K Gold Mask,
- 24K Gold Pure Luxury Cleansing Butter,
- 24K Gold Pure Luxury Lift & Firm Hydra-Gel Eye Patches,
- 24K Gold Intense Wrinkle Sheet Mask.
24K Gold Pure Luxury Lift & Firm Prism Cream comes in beautiful, golden, prismatic, plastic 50 ml / 1.7. fl.oz. tube. It has no scent and it’s golden shade toned (obviously).
Spreads easily and sinks into skin in no time leaving it as if Midas himself touched it.
How to use it?
“May be used all over the face and body or as a targeted highlighter. To highlight face, apply desired amount to fingertips and blend into cheekbones, brow bones, bridge of the nose and temples. Highlight body by applying to décolletage, shoulders, and legs.”
I do use it as recommended but I also like it to mix with my moisturizers and CC creams. Moisturizers “kill” that golden shine and make it more subtle for everyday use. CC creams, on the other hand, sometimes lack that extra kick that this 24K Gold Prism Cream possesses and they together make wonderful, glass skin effect.
Also, I have mentioned this can be easily abused. It’s a thin line between golden goddess and a disco ball. Especially if you are on oilier part of the skin types spectrum. Or if it’s hot, humid weather. If you by any chance apply it too much, you will look like your head needs to be covered with something for traffic security purposes. Or, you will get a gig in clubs. Not as a bouncer.
And I am talking about if you had young, poreless, perfect skin. If you had any less than perfect skin, be careful. Be very careful. Because this:
“24K Gold – known from the time of Cleopatra for its powerful anti-aging benefits, 24K Gold helps firm, lift, brighten and calm the appearance of skin while providing an opulent glow.
Colloidal Gold – also known as “Activated Gold,” helps lift and firm the look of skin.
Optical diffusers – diminish the appearance of imperfections to create a flawless glow.
Three shade-sensing spheres – combine to provide a radiance to every skin tone.
Advanced hydrators – provide long-term hydration for a fresh, dewy look and feel.”
… will turn against you and instead of imperfections appearance diminished will turn into imperfections highlighted. And you don’t want that, I am sure.
So go light-handed, easy, blend well.
Water/aqua/eau, Glycerin, Mica, Hydrogenated polyisobutene, Homosalate, Propanediol, Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, Octyldodecanol, trilaureth-4, Phosphate, Glyceryl stearate, Jojoba esters, Cetyl alcohol, Ceteareth-12, Ceteareth-20, Colloidal gold, Sodium hyaluronate, Tocopherol, Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, BHT, Persea gratissima (avocado) oil, Dimethicone, Pentaerythrityl tetraethylhexanoate, Hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel)water, Carbomer, Citric acid, Boron nitride, HDI/trimethylol hexyllactone crosspolymer, Tin oxide, Silica dimethyl silylate, Triethanolamine, Silica, Polyester-1, Bensoic acid, Pentylene glycol, Potassium sorbate, Sodium benzonate, Phenoxyethanol, Gold(ci 77480), Titanium oxide (ci 77891), Carmine (ci 75470), Iron oxides (ci77491, ci 77492, ci 77499)
Colloidal Gold (gold particles 1 – 15 nanometers) as skin care ingredient is rather controversial. There are claims that it has benefits to skin but I couldn’t find any relevant skin study about that. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Others say it’s potentially sensitizing ingredient that should be used with caution.
Other beneficial ingredients listed: glycerine, Jojoba esters, Cetyl alcohol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopherol, Aloe Barbadensis leaf juice, Avocado Oil. See? Told you it was very moisturizing.
Witch hazel water is potential red flag for rosacea skin, although, I can see no problems with it in this product whatsoever. No breakouts, no irritations.
Generally yes, but use with caution. Patch test first.
Who is it for?
For all skin types and tones.
Does it work?
Dewy look and Korean chok chok skin is just a drop away with this cream. I especially love it when I finish applying my foundation and then add this product at the very end to get beautiful dewy look. I hate when my face looks matte. Matte look makes me older than I really am.
I love to apply it to the whole eye area and I really don’t need any concealer after that. It lifts and illuminates skin there sooo nicely. Cheekbones are beautifully accented and highlighted.
This cream is perfect for natural look strobing technique.
Effect lasts as long as your base and foundation last on your face.
I especially love it in summer when my skin is tanned. Then I apply it to my décolletage and shoulders to achieve absolute summer glow.
To conclude, I really like 24K Gold Pure Luxury Lift & Firm Prism Cream. This is actually my second repurchase and I cannot imagine my finished makeup look without this product. Now imagine reading this with Shirley Bassey singing Goldfinger as soundtrack to this article.
