Swanicoco The Bio Theraphy 1st Essence

What is it?

It’s a first essence. Ok, what? The First Essence or FTE. Something to soothe your skin and to replenish moisture immediately after cleansing. It is usually watery liquid full of fermented ingredients like galactomyces ferment filtrate, also known as Pitera (think SK-II Facial Treatment Essence,  COSRX Galactomyces 95 Whitening Power Essence, From Nature Age Intense Treatment Essence or Benton Fermentation Essence) or saccharomyces ferment filtrate (Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence or Nature Republic Saccharomyces Ferment The First Essence).

Galactomyces is fermented yeast extract and is by-product of fermented sake. Benefits to the skin are numerous and include moisturizing, antioxidant and anti aging properties.

Saccharomyces or sugar fungi (Greek: saccharo – sugar, myco – fungi) ferment filtrate has brightening, moisturizing and skin replenishing properties.

Now think different. Swanicoco The Bio Theraphy 1st Essence is also full of fermented goods, but this time star ingredient is bifida ferment lysate.

Bifida Ferment Lysate is a lysate of the fermentation product of Bifida.

lysate (lī′sāt)

  1. The products of hydrolysis.
  2. The material that remains when cells are lysed by enzymes, inorganic chemicals, or physical means.

You can also find this ingredient in Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair line.

More on Swanicoco you can read in previous article.

How to use it?

Always immediately (within 10 seconds) after cleansing.

You can:

  • Soak cotton pad and then apply it on face, neck and décolletage,
  • Dispense essence into your palms and then pat over your face, neck and décolletage,
  • Transfer essence into spray bottle and spray it all over your face, neck and décolletage,
  • Pat to absorb.

Bifida Ferment Lysate, Butylene Glycol, Allantoin, Xanthan Gum.

Swanicoco claims to be 99% of Bifida Ferment Lysate formula. There are also conditioning agents Butylene Glycol, Allantoin and Xanthan Gum as stabilizer.

Back to Bifida Ferment Lysate. Star ingredient of this essence. Why is it here like the accent piece of this formula?

First of all, for its antiaging properties and most of all for the claims to strengthen skin barrier. By claims like that, also come deep hydration properties and there you go. You should have a little antiaging, skin strengthening beauty bomb. Ok, why not!

Rosacea safe?

Who is it for?

Every skin type. HOWEVER, use with caution if you suffer from any skin condition caused by the Malassezia type of yeast. Including seborrheic dermatitis.

Fermented ingredients and malassezia yeast are not exactly the best friends.

Does it work?

I must spoil it all with the claim that I already have my HG first essence. It’s From Nature Age Intense Treatment Essence. And that essence does it all. It’s hydrating, soothing, skin-replenishing.

Comparing to that essence, this one is also good. But not as.

They are almost the same by the consistency. Watery liquid with no colour and no scent (ok, just a little bit of that yeasty barely-there-fragrance).

Swanicoco essence comes in 100ml red, elegant, heavy glass, Swanicoco-style bottle.

It really hydrates skin right after cleansing, but doesn’t have that moisture kick like From Nature essence does. It also does soothe the skin, but cannot be left to its own devices. You will need more.

Don’t get me wrong, this is still a great first essence. It does its job. Soothes your skin after cleansing and prepares it for further skincare steps.

I have been using it for 5 weeks now, mornings and evenings. And yes, I AM enjoying it. It gives that luxurious feeling to my skincare routines. The most important part is that my skin is not complaining.

After 5 weeks of continuous use, I can even see slightly better skin texture and more even skin tone. That being said, I think it’s safe to say, this is really good first essence.

Thumbs up?
