Tosowoong Dr. Troubex Sparkling Mask Review

What is it?

According to official Tosowoong website, it is:

“… a mask pack with a patent ingredient, Herb complex and sparkling water that calms irritated and sensitive skin and delivers intense hydration to remove excessive sebum and dryness.
The Acid balanced Dr. Troubex formula in close PH level of human skin is suitable for sensitive and troubled skin and is never heavy for skin that can nourish and take care of skin well.”

Tosowoong is Korean skincare brand focused on improving overall skin condition and results on that field and less focused on glamourous packaging designs and marketing catches. And I must say, they deliver. I never ever had any unwanted skin reactions caused by their products and all of them (that I had chance to try) were pretty much close to their claims.

This product in particular is a box of ten sheet masks packed with very powerful cocktail of beneficial ingredients for soothing irritated skin and improve its condition overall.

How to use it?

In your skincare routine after cleansing and toning. Remove sheet mask from its packaging and place it on skin. Enjoy for 15-20 minutes. Remove, dab the essence to absorb into skin and then continue routine with moisturizer or other skin care product of your choice.

First, I used one sheet mask and then made pause of couple of days (ok, almost a week) to make my skin get used to it. Then, after that period without any unwanted reactions caused by this mask, I made sheet mask challenge – every day for nine days one mask. I recorded results. Just to make that “Daily” word from the box approved.

Ingredients

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Peg/Ppg-17/6 Copolymer, Bifida Ferment Filtrate, Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Rh-Oligopeptide-1, Carbonated Water (100 ppm), Larix Sibirica Wood Extract, Chrysanthellum Indicum Extract, Rheum Palmatum Root/Stalk Extract, Asarum Sieboldi Root Extract, Quercus Mongolia Leaf Extract, Persicaria Hydropiper Extract, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract, Corydalis Turtschaninovii Root Extract, Coptis Chinensis Root Extract, Machilus Thunbergii Bark Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Dimethyl Sulfone, Allantoin, Betaine, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Ethylhexylglycerin, Arginine, Disodium EDTA, Adenosine, Salicylic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Perfume

Well, isn’t this one nice? Water based, with humectants (Butylene Glycol, Glycerin), emollient (Peg/Ppg-17/6 Copolymer), antioxidants (Bifida Ferment Filtrate, Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate), soothing agent (Centella Asiatica Extract) and Epidermal Growth Factor EGF (Rh-Oligopeptide-1) in the front. EGF is protein responsible for stimulating collagen production and it’s vital in skin healing processes. It is also impossible not to mention Italian developmental biologist Rita Levi-Montalcini and the American biochemist Stanley Cohen as their discovery of nerve growth factor (NGF) and epidermal growth factor (EGF) won Nobel Prize in 1986 in Physiology or Medicine (more on: https://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/medicine/laureates/1986/press.html).

This mask is also infused with sparkling (carbonated) water. Benefit of CO2 in cosmetics is to promote blood circulation, faster cell turnover and therefore better skin texture and overall skin condition.

This ingredients list continues with the lineup of all the skin-conditioning stars as non-irritating herbal extracts, emollients, and beneficial compounds like allantoin, betaine, arginine and adenosine.

All in all, impressive and very promising.

Rosacea safe?

Oh, I think yes, absolutely. Of course, if you are allergic to any of ingredients listed, steer away from it.

Who is it for?

Anyone who wants to soothe, to improve, to calm, to rejuvenate skin. Skin type regardless.

Does it work?

I will start with the mask fit and the material. The fit is a bit strange, flat, with eye openings too wide. Actually, the whole mask is too big and too wide. I am not fond of commenting fits of the sheet masks because everyone has their unique face form and what fits me doesn’t have to fit you and vice versa. But this mask was really strange on face. Needed really lot of adjusting and refitting.

Material is ordinary, cotton.

No leftover essence.

Well, let’s look at the pictures. You can see how things were rolling in two weeks of this skincare experiment.

Photos are not edited in any way. You can tell by this embarrassing close-up of my skin that reveals not just my pores, but almost my DNA profile.

I am gonna go with the YES. Yes, it worked really well in reducing inflammation and post inflammatory erythema (PIE). It also improved skin tone and appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Not bad, not bad at all. Spike moment.

 Thumbs up?

Yes!

  1. I used these masks about two years ago and they were amazing. I didn’t even realise they contain centella asiatica. I used centella asiatica before it was even popular haha.
